LATEST CONSIGNMENT OF OSR LEAVES GRIMSBY
DOCKS
Jonathan Lane, Gleadell oilseed rape trader, and the
MV Pride, pictured at Grimsby docks, with growers’ latest
consignment of 2,625mt of oilseed rape.
Gleadell have been shipping similar loads directly to the European
mainland since the beginning of the harvest period, with deliveries
set to continue throughout November.
“The ships are transporting the crop predominantly to crushing
mills in Holland, Belgium and Germany, where it is used in the production
of biodiesel” says
Mr. Lane.
“It is continental biodiesel-led demand that has brought about
the differential in prices that has enabled us to export. Shipping
direct gives our growers an advantage in shorter haulage costs,
and opens up access to more markets throughout Europe.”
