Key Benefits
Has found favour with UK farmers as a good 2nd wheat
A high tillering, vigorous variety that establishes well in tough seedbed conditions

Agronomy
Napier has moderately short, stiff straw. It is particularly suited to the second wheat slot. The graph below demonstrates feed wheat performance. Varieties on or above the line perform consistently as a 2nd wheat. Those below the line are less consistent as a 2nd wheat.

chart

Napier is resistant to the Brigadier race of yellow rust that affects Savannah, and the Oxbow race which affects Robigus and Wizard. It is in the same diversity group as Einstein and Access.

Napier is moderately susceptible to eyespot, so treatment with cyprodinil at T1 is required in a risk situation e.g. 2nd wheat.
