Gleadell

Imported Fertiliser

Fertliizer VesselAs the fertiliser demands of the UK Agribusiness continue to change, forming a partnership with our parent company Toepfer International has elevated Gleadell Agriculture into a unique position to service these changes. The Toepfer group is annually trading approximately 2.0 million tons of fertiliser, with a turnover value of approximately US $ 280M, having strong links with both manufacturers and consumers on either sides of the globe. The majority of this business has been concluded in the Asian market, since this is where Toepfer began its fertiliser trading activities, but this year has seen the opening of an office in Hamburg to service the EU market. Having a vested interest in Gleadell provides Toepfer with a unique distribution network in the UK. Major sources of supply include KAFCO Bangladesh, who specialise in the manufacturing of Granular Urea, but importantly for the UK market supply contracts are now in place with Alexandria Fertilisers in Egypt. The Egyptian Granular Urea is now a well recognised quality brand in the UK , Gleadell will be working very closely with both Toepfer and Alexandria Fertilisers to promote the product and service the ever increasing demand from the UK farmer. Taking almost three years to complete, Alexandria opened their new plant for production in May 2006 and on October 6th Gleadell took delivery of their first 18,000 tnes of product into the port of Immingham. The product is destined to be delivered onto farms within a 140 mile radius of the port, which accounts for approximately 50% of the UK Granular Urea market.

All new manufacturing plants being built anywhere in the world now are strategically placed to benefit from cheap supplies of gas, this is very much the case in Egypt who have plans for a further plant to constructed in the next 2-3 years. A quality product and continuity of supply is what Gleadell are looking to achieve, this new working partnership will go a long way to providing just that.
