Domestic oat-milling demand has grown sharply over the past 10 years, largely on the positive health benefits associated with eating oats. Milling demand has now stabilised at around 325,000 tonnes per year. As a result, each season the UK has a significant quantity of oats available for export or animal feeding. The price of oats can be very volatile depending on the impact of weather conditions on the quality of the UK oat crop and our ability to export into the key German oat market.
