Summary
Red wheat is an exciting new product that has a real ongoing market
demand, going into one of the UK best known premium brands, Hovis.
Red wheat however, is not new to the UK as it has been under going
extensive and very successful trials with RHM for the last 4 years.
On the farm it has shown itself to be very versatile with a large
window for drilling, a very early harvest, low input costs and most
importantly one of the best gross margin returns available.
Red wheat is accompanied by a comprehensive buyback contract that
is a bought on a produce of acre basis and includes achievable specifications
and generous fallbacks. Just as important the grower receives timely
and extensive agronomy information which is sent via regular crop
bulletins.
So what’s the catch? The answer is “there isn’t
one”. All you need is moisture retentive soil, follow the
expert agronomy advice and have the vision to be part of one of
