Group One
Gallant - Buyback Available*
Gallant will remain in favour this season in the group 1 banding – with the highest yield in its sector (100% of treated yield – 3% ahead of Solstice), the variety is early maturing– same as Cordiale aswell as excellent grain characteristics. The variety is the shortest of the group 1 varieties, giving the ability to move quickly at harvest.

Solstice

Group Two
KWS Sterling - Buyback Available*
KWS Sterling – 102% treated yield on HGCA recommended list – 4% ahead of Einstein – highest in its group for yield.  Good rust resistances – 9 for yellow rust and 7 for brown rust as well as a 7 for mildew.  Variety is short with stiff straw.  Good hagberg and specific weight grain characteristics.

Kingdom - Buyback Available*
A new group 2 variety added to the CEL list this year, Kingdom from Syngenta has yields of 100% of treated yield, 2% ahead of Cordiale and Einstein.  Good results in the second wheat position, and has sound grain characteristics.

Cordiale - Buyback Available*
98% treated yield on this years recommended list – the farmer’s favourite group 2 variety – giving consistent results over previous seasons.  Excellent grain qualities – variety is early to harvest aiding harvest logistics, once again a short variety with stiff straw – easy to combine.

Group Three

Warrior - Buyback Available*
The new group 3 soft wheat Warrior. The highest untreated yield on the list is another variety in the group 3 bracket to attract interest.  100% treated yield puts it ahead of Scout, Robigus and Claire, but its agronomic package will make it very appealing to growers seeking a variety that will look after itself.

Invicta  - Buyback Available*
Invicta the new group 3 soft wheat is sure to be of interest for this autumn with 103% treated yield – the highest in the group 3 sector – 6% ahead of Claire along with a good agronomic package is sure to make the variety very attractive to growers.

Group Four

Conqueror
Conqueror – is a new high yielding group 4 hard feed wheat variety – added to the CEL recommended list for 2010/11.  Conqueror gives very high yields in first wheat situations, but also when late sown or as a second wheat.  The variety has a moderate disease rating and is resistant to Orange Wheat Blossom Midge.

Shire
Shire is a new high yielding candidate group 4 variety with excellent grain qualities.
Gleadell have the variety available exclusively for more commercial analysis in harvest 2011; however growers should look at Shire due to its fantastic second wheat results, prolific tillering and chlorotoluron tolerance.  The variety has short, stiff straw and good lodging and sprouting resistance.
