Company History
The company was founded in 1880 and expanded rapidly to include
grain merchanting, warehousing , malting ,and animal feed manufacturing
as it’s core activities. Indeed it was one of the first grain
merchants in the UK to offer farmers a fully integrated storage
and drying operation.
In 1991 AC Toepfer International and Union Invivo each purchased
a 25% stake in the company and in 2001 they both increased their
ownership to 50% each .The shareholders are active participants
in the UK market and provide key world market information for Gleadell
and it’s farmer and consumer customers . The company has consistently
expanded it’s sales of seed and fertiliser alongside it’s
growing grain marketing activities.

Agriculture now operates from 5offices. Head office in Hemswell
(Lincolnshire) and branch offices in Swaffham (Norfolk), Full Sutton
(Yorkshire), Lyndon(Leicestershire) and Berwick St Leonard (Wiltshire).
The company is the UK’s third largest ex farm buyer of cereals
and our network of offices enables us to offer a first class service
to farmers and consumers in the main cropping areas in the UK .
The company remains a leading exporter of cereals , pulses and oilseeds
to buyers around the world and is also the market leader in the
supply of organic grain to UK processors.
